Fulfilling the Great Commission by raising Christ-centred disciples to plant vibrant, biblical churches in our cities and countries all over the world

Pastor Lance oversees Hope Gold Coast Australia and some Australian churches. He is a fiery and humorous preacher with a great passion to make Jesus known to all nations. He moves strongly in the gifts of the Spirit such as word of knowledge, word of wisdom, prophetic and the miraculous. He is happily married to Belle who is the director of Shekinah creative ministry. A ministry with a vision to use mass media to advance the kingdom of God.

The ministries we are doing are spiritual work and therefore need divine empowerment (otherwise they are not really spiritual but simply just work!) If we are trying to lead without God’s empowerment, direction, favour and manner, we are no different from the secular leaders we are trying to reach for Christ!

Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labour in vain.

Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain.

In vain you rise early and stay up late.Ps 127:1-2a)

Jesus taught his disciples (apostles in training) in John chapter 15 verse 5 “5″I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

Two important Kingdom truths are vital for us as leaders to not only understand but to let shape the flavour of our ministries…

  • Apart from Christ we can do nothing!
  • If we stay dependant on Christ we will be very fruitful!

These two truths should develop a desperation in us to learn to lean on Christ instead of our purely pragmatic (and proud) plans.

I recently preached on “Synergising with God” and would love to share some of the insights from that session with you.

Firstly, there are some amazing prileges of synergising with God:

1) Insure your Success (instead of anxiously pleading)

Prov 21:30 There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the LORD. (NIV)

God’s will never fails, whatever He wants to do, He will surely do. No one can stand against His plans! Therefore, if we join His plan, we are joining a winning team!

Its an amazing assurance to know you are carrying out a winning plan!

2) Minister with God’s Authority (instead exerting of your ‘position’)

Matt 10:1 He called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out evil spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.

When we synergise with God, The Lord actually gives us His Authority to carry out his will! That surely beats trying to do it in our own authority!

Many times we are “praying anxiously” for things God has already given us, but as we synergise with God, we learn how to operate in power and authority. Many times while I am ministering to a sick person or demon possessed individual, I will simply command the body to be healed, or the spirit to leave and it happens! Why? Because Jesus has given us this authority!

3) Operate in God’s Abilities (instead of floundering in your own)

Acts 4:13 When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.

When we depend on God, He will surely enable us. When we respond to God, God will help us. We will be able to do things we couldn’t before!

Naturally I am very disorganised and forgetful, but when God anoints me I can become very strategic, discerning and often God gives me Words of Wisdom to help in my leadership… without these I would be foundering!

4) Yield Supernatural Outcomes (instead of pragmatic cause and effect)

Mark 10:27 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”

When we synergise with God, the result can be beyond we expected because the result is not directly related to our effort, but God’s empowerment. The degree of success is unbelievable if we synergise with God!

Recently while praying for a sister The Lord told me not to pray, but to get her to simply read from her bible the whole chapter of Romans 8… She was healed as she read her bible… the result had nothing to do with my involvement other than listening to, and obeying God’s direction!

5) Prosper under His Protection (instead of fear and worry)

2 Thessalonians 3:3 But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.

There is nothing safer than being in the centre of God’s will! When we are in God’s will, He will protect us. He will protect His servants to ensure that His work will be accomplished.

I get annoyed when I hear people say things like “the devil” did this to me, or prevented me doing that… God in you is greater than He that is in the world! When we come into any type of opposition, it is an opportunity to grow in our wonder of GOD, not the enemy! If God inside of you is really greater than any opposition you will face, we need to be able to look up above the opposition to an even greater Protector. Amen?

6) Flourish in His Favour (instead of floundering in difficulties)

Psalm 90:17 May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us— yes, establish the work of our hands.

God is pleased when we choose to depend totally on Him, and He expresses His pleasure when His people cooperate with Him by giving His blessing and favour.

There have been many times when I have prayed for somebody else and I myself have been healed or blessed in the same anointing! In fact, I often look for somebody to pray for when I am sick, knowing that I will be blessed as I pray for blessings on others.

7) Expect His Eternal Rewards (instead of fearing His scrutiny)

Phil 3:12-14 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining towards what is ahead, I press on towards the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenwards in Christ Jesus. (NIV)

Jesus promised to give rewards to people who work for Him. Yes! He not only calls you because he wants to co-labour with you, and wants you to experience the blessings of ministering with His Spirit, but He promises to bless you eternally on top of it all! When we synergise with God, we will receive rewards not only in this world but for all eternity, as well.

How great a deal is that? Let’s make a decision to dedicate our leadership to God, so that we can see His outcomes rather than our own.
