Fulfilling the Great Commission by raising Christ-centred disciples to plant vibrant, biblical churches in our cities and countries all over the world

It just seems like the annual CCM Conference keeps getting better, and this year’s was no different! Titled ‘Future’, the conference is held once a year for tertiary students in Brisbane and this is the fourth conference. It saw almost 280 delegates on the grounds of Watson Park Convention Centre in Dakabin, Brisbane on the 30th and 31st of August, 2014.

There was such an air of excitement and anticipation right from the start on the morning of the 30th. Delegates had to wake up bright and early to make the drive to the conference grounds, but that did not seem to dampen spirits at all. The conference started with a heart-thumping percussion performance and went into praise and worship. Throughout the two days, the presence of God was amongst us as our hearts were bowed in a posture of worship and when our songs of praise rose to the heavens.

Suzanna, Ray, Ps Joshua and Sunita preached their hearts out during the conference and all the sessions touched many hearts and lives, with different ones deepening their convictions about God’s plans for their future. There was such a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit as the Word was preached and as God was glorified.

What student conference would be complete without a bit of fun and games? The weather during the conference was absolutely beautiful and delegates had a time to let loose and have fun during the outdoor games. Teamed up with people from other units, it was a time to make new friends from other units and work together to exemplify the various fruit of the spirit through different station games. The outdoor games culminated in a scavenger hunt, which saw teams trying to figure out the least painful way to get five eyelashes and testing their poetry skills by writing a haiku. For all their efforts, everyone was rewarded with ice cream at the end.

The night saw delegates trooping out in the chill air to their unit campfires. There was popcorn, drinks and marshmallows to go around and everyone enjoyed themselves around their respective fires, singing their lungs out, dancing and basically enjoying the night for all it was worth!

This year’s conference also saw 13 people making public declarations of God’s lordship over their lives and choosing to be water baptized.

The conference closed with a time of testimonies. Many came up to share of the things that God put in their hearts, and even more were encouraged as they heard of God’s mighty hand in the lives of His beloved children.

Every conference is a reminder again of God’s heart for the lost and broken, and His divine plan for the various campuses. As we look to the future, we no longer face it with fear and doubt. We can now move forward with the knowledge that God has a plan for each and every one of us and we have this confidence because of His immeasurable love for us. Truly, the God we love and serve is a good and faithful God!
